Children’s Changing World

The slippery slope of legalizing marijuana

Every nation has its culture, and a country’s culture can be the result of its arts,  education, and religion. The course of a country’s culture changes with exposure to other outside influences.  Also, the momentum of change depends on a nation’s capacity to preserve its historical dignity. The strength and longevity of a nation’s culture depend on their abilities to transfer the essential virtues of that country into its youth.

For example, the United States has three states California, Colorado, and New York that legalized medical marijuana use for students during school hours.

The existing danger is that our young people are very impressionable and what may start out as a medical purpose could shift into something that becomes “fashionable”.  Few people may realize that marijuana is known as the “gateway drug”. This is because marijuana is accepted among the entertainment industry, in some business settings and after-hour recreational activities.

Unfortunately,  many heavy drug users started out with recreational marijuana before experimenting with stronger drugs. The progression goes from casual use of pot to a more potent type of weed, then onto helper (addictive) drugs that increase the effect of marijuana.

New York has some of the strictest guidelines for medical marijuana. According to the office of Dr. George Moskowitz, New York  eligibility at present  include:

1)    Pain with documentation of Neuropathy and/or Radiculopathy

2) •  Cancer
•  HIV infection or AIDS
•  Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBS)
•  Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
•  Parkinson’s disease
•  Multiple Sclerosis
•  Spinal Cord Injury with spasticity
•  Epilepsy
•  Huntington’s disease.http://www.nycmedicalmarijuanadoctor.com/?gclid=CNqI29X2hM8CFVg2gQoddwQPpw

As of now, the Drug Enforcement Agency lists marijuana as a schedule 1 drug. The Drug Enforcement Agency groups pot alongside heroin, LSD, and ecstasy.

But this November, up to 20 states will vote on legalizing medical marijuana for uses during school in America’s once most controversial vice.  And, the momentum is only going in one direction.

Right now, 61% of the American public believes weed should be legalized. 81% are for allowing it for strictly medical use.

So, the chances are very “high” that a large number of those 20 states will legalize or expand their existing marijuana laws.

And once they give legal weed the “green” light…

It’s set up to make a whole lot of people…a whole lot of money.

Dr. George Moskowitz, New York charges $250.00 a treatment. This year, marijuana is expected to create $6.7 billion of new wealth.

Sadly as history repeats itself, whenever a nation loses its innocence and no longer serves the God of the Bible, that nation also loses its prosperity and Godly inheritance.

3 You have had enough in the past of the evil things that godless people enjoy– their immorality and lust, their feasting and drunkenness and wild parties, and their terrible worship of idols.
4 Of course, your former friends are surprised when you no longer plunge into the flood of wild and destructive things they do. So they slander you.
5 But remember that they will have to face God, who will judge everyone, both the living and the dead. (1Pe 4:3-5 NLT)

An amazing insight is revealed in Galatians 5:19, where the word for “witchcraft” is the Greek word for

20 state will vote to legalize Marijuana Nov.  2016

With a unanimous 9-0 vote, the Senate Judiciary Committee approved a bill that would make changes to the prosecution of those found guilty of possessing marijuana and other controlled substances three or more times.

The move is expected to decrease the state’s incarceration costs by as much as $2 million, according to the bill’s fiscal note.
The change comes as part of a package deal. The heart of the bill was centered on enhancing the state’s DUIs laws.
