Passover 2

Garden of Gethsemane

The Unattractive Servant

As The Passover Lamb looks into the Gethsemane skies, the Lord’s peace offering is fully aware that His body was made for the atonement for the sins of the world. Our Lord enters the garden where He often prays with His faithful companions.
Luke 22:39 And He came out and went, as was His habit, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples followed Him. When He arrived at the place [called Gethsemane], He said to them, “Pray continually that you may not fall into temptation.”

The Bible Dictionary Definition for Temptation

3986. πειρασμός peirasmós; gen. peirasmoú, masc. noun from peirázō (G3985), to make trial of, try, tempt. Trial, temptation, a putting to the test, spoken of persons only. When God is the agent, peirasmós is for the purpose of proving someone, never for the purpose of causing him to fall. If it is the devil who tempts, then it is for the purpose of causing one to fall.
(I) Generally, trial of one’s character (1 Pet. 4:12, “to try [or prove] you”). By implication, trial of one’s virtue, temptation, solicitation to sin, especially from Satan (Luke 4:13; 1 Tim… Complete Word Study Bible Dictionary

The Bible speaks of Jesus’ disciples, but there is another group of faithful attendants present that is rarely appreciated.
Bible students don’t say much about Christ’s secondary comrades, but King David identified with them in Psalms 52:8.

First of all, these companions are very unattractive and not much to look at; however, their beauty is their tenacity in which their faithfulness is only surpassed by that of Adonai, God of Israel. For example, they were in the garden every time Jesus prayed.

The unattractive servants
King David says in Psalms 52:8

Psalms 52:8
But I am like an olive tree, thriving in the house of God.
I will always trust in God’s unfailing love.
I will praise you forever, O God,
for what you have done.
I will trust in your good name
in the presence of your faithful people.

According to the Easton’s Bible Dictionary
The oldest olive-trees in the country are those which are enclosed in the Garden of Gethsemane. I don’t believe Easton’s Dictionary committee is saying that these are the same olive trees where The Messiah prayed. But where do these trees get a source of vitality that extends their lives?

The two “witnesses” mentioned in Rev 11:4 are spoken of as “two olive trees standing before the God of the earth.” (Comp. Zech 4:3 11-14.)

When we try to understand the sacred loyalty of God while comparing His devotion to the human species, there is little to associate with His trustworthiness as we have with the mysterious olive tree. This character of an olive tree becomes more apparent when the reader understands that the Messiah is the one who anoints, furthermore, before there is an anointing there has to be a crushing of the olive in the olive press.

The Tender Plant

A tender plant
Isaiah 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

The Hebrew word for “was bruised” is “daka” the Lord’s will to crush the Servant. God pours out His wrath against sin while at the same time, offering a covenant for peace.

H1792. דָּכָא dāḵā’: A verb meaning to crush, to beat down, to bruise, to oppress. The Hebrew word is often used in a poetic or figurative sense. Eliphaz spoke of those who lived in houses of clay, whose foundations were crushed easily (Job 4:19). The psalmist prayed that the king would crush an oppressor (Ps. 72:4) and accused the wicked of crushing the Lord’s people (Ps. 94:5). The wise man exhorted others not to crush the needy in court (Prov. 22:22). Isaiah said that it was the Lord’s will to crush the Servant (Isa. 53:10…)

When the sinner sees this anointed King, who left His Throne in Heaven to be made humble, scorned and despised; the lost will come to His aid and thank Him for His grace and treat this King with love and respect. This act of God leaves little room for Satan’s excuse for rebellious and arrogant behavior amongst angels and people who reject the Lamb of God.

The Hare

The Hare

(Heb. ‘arnebeth) was prohibited as food according to the Mosaic law (Lev 11:6 Deut 14:7, “because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof.” The habit of this animal is to grind its teeth and move its jaw as if it actually chewed the cud. But, like the cony (q.v.), it is not a ruminant with four stomachs, but a rodent like a squirrel, rat, etc. Moses speaks of it according to appearance. It is interdicted because, though apparently chewing the cud, it did not divide the hoof.
There are two species in Syria, (1) the Lepus Syriacus or Syrian hare, which is like the English hare; and (2) the Lepus Sinaiticus, or hare of the desert. No rabbits are found in Syria.

In the Lutheran translation of the Bible, the Hebrew word “arneweth” is translated as ‘hare’. This seems to be the correct translation. The Hebrew word “arneweth” is connected with the Arcadian word “annabu”, which means “jumper”. Besides this, we find in the Latin Vulgate the word ‘hare’ translated as the name of the species “lepus”. In the Talmud, we can find more evidence that “arneweth” is a hare. The orthodox Jews always translated “arneweth” as a hare. And finally we find confirmation in the Jerusalem Bible-Zoo that the “arneweth” is a hare.

There are two kinds of hare in the Holy Land – lepus syriacus and lepus aegtiacus. There are only small differences between these two kinds of hare and rabbits. A hare is born with open eyes and a full coat of fur; and a hare also has a different tail than the rabbit. However, their feeding habits are similar.
The Bible also uses the Hebrew word “gera” to describe a hare. In most English Bible translations the expression “cheweth the cud” is used. According to the Talmud the hare is a ruminant (Hul.59a). The Targum considers the hare to be “an animal that chews the cud.” (B.Kam 28b).

The hare does not have a stomach with three or four chambers, as is typical for all animals that chew the cud, however, it chews the cellulose food twice, so that the nutrients which were not consumed the first time will be digested. The stomach of the hare is different to that of cattle which have three or four chambers, however, it functions in a similar manner.
The hare excretes two different kinds of droppings. In addition to normal excrement, it passes another kind of “pellet” called Caecotroph, which the hare eats again. This type of dropping is usually passed during the night or in the early hours of the morning; an average person would not get to see this procedure. As soon as the Caecotroph is thoroughly chewed and swallowed it is collected in the stomach to be digested a second time.

The Caecotroph is produced in the Caecum (intestine) and is rich in Vitamin B, especially Vitamin B1. This is important for the hare’s nourishment. The hare does not just chew the food twice, but as in ruminating cloven-hoofed animals, bacteria breaks down the cellulose. The Bible, therefore, makes no mistake in stating that the hare chews the cud, as this is now scientifically proven.

In Leviticus 11:6 it was forbidden to eat hare. This commandment was probably given because blood parasites could be transferred through the handling of hare carcasses. This hygiene rule was far ahead of its time.

Ancient Pagan Feast

Ancient Pagan Feast

Gods  Pagan Baal and Ashera

Appears together, she is the queen of Heaven and he is a demigod of nature (the Deer).
Sometimes he appears as a tree worshiped by Pagan.
By this time many of you have sat at dinner tables, discussing the past years with precious loved ones. And, some parent may have just received the shocking news that their child’s way of perceiving Christianity has changed. In a different home, parents might be hearing that their child called Jesus by the name of Yeshua.
A few homes might even hear that their children no longer believe in Christmas.
So, if I am allowed to enter the conversation, please let me speak in all of these discussions.
First of all, any out of balance doctrine is an error, and any teaching that makes one superior over another, where nobody is saved except their ethnicity or religious group, is an error.  Christ taught us that humility is the only way.
(Amplified Bible – AMP)
5 “Blessed [inwardly peaceful, spiritually secure, worthy of respect] are the gentle [the kind-hearted, the sweet-spirited, the self-controlled], for they will inherit the earth.Matthew 5:5
πραύς praús; fem. praeía, neut. praú, adj. Meek, mild, gentle (Matt. 5:5; 21:5; 1 Pet. 3:4; Sept.: Job 24:4; Ps. 37:11; Zech. 9:9). See praútēs (G4240), meekness, and praótēs (G4236), meekness, mildness, forbearance, for a full discussion of the meaning.

(Amplified Bible – AMP)
6 “Blessed [joyful, nourished by God’s goodness] are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness [those who actively seek right standing with God], for they will be [completely] satisfied.
7 “Blessed [content, sheltered by God’s promises] are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.
8 “Blessed [anticipating God’s presence, spiritually mature] are the pure in heart [those with integrity, moral courage, and godly character], for they will see God. Matthew 5:6-8  (Amplified Bible – AMP)
“Pure in heart”
καθαρός katharós; fem. kathará, neut. katharón, adj. Clean, pure, clear, in a natural sense unsoiled, unalloyed.
Remarkably, the message hasn’t changed; everyone who preaches the Word of God must declare the awe and reverence of God. The Bible is not only a book about Adonai (God of Abraham, Issac, Moses); the Bible is the WORD of GOD. And the nation who makes God the center of their existence is blessed.  But the nation who pushes Adonai aside and go after materialism, or idolatry by worshipping other gods shall experience the passive wrath of our Lord.
What is the passive wrath of God?  It’s when weather phenomenon cost is so high that your nation borrows money to pay for the collateral damage. Raging fires destroy a community the size of a small state.  America has experienced eleven disasters in 2017; each one costing over a billion dollars. Furthermore, the totals are not in yet and wildfires are still burning in California.
The problem is that too many messages have been lost from the world’s pulpits. We have become convinced that the Gospel is now all about love and grace, which usually encourages people to remain as they are without spiritual conversion or transformation.  Just like in the natural, misdirected children will soon push boundary limits; spiritually rebellious members of a society will push the moral norms of a nation.  The Word of God is our instructions for eternal life.
So, what is the Gospel or God’s message to mankind?
The book of Revelations is the testimony of Jesus Christ, and how He warns the earth’s inhabitants of encroaching idolatry as the world is continually being seduced by the ancient enemies of Adonai.
6 Then I saw another angel flying in midheaven, with an eternal gospel to preach to the inhabitants of the earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people; 7 and he said with a loud voice, “Fear God [with awe and reverence], and give Him glory [and honor and praise in worship], because the hour of His judgment has come; [with all your heart] worship Him who created the heaven and the earth, the sea and the springs of water.”
Revelation 14:6-7
Demon spirits do not distinguish between what one may be saying is a Christmas tree or another person who may be calling it a Pagan altar of worship.  Demons recognize symbols as a signal of invitation. Occult spirits are very careful in not exposing their plots to sabotage the pulpits, teaching God’s  people to commit high treason by sitting around Pagan altars.

On the Pagan Calendar, the feast of "YULE" coincides with Christmas.

(Amplified Bible – AMP)
20 The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent even then of the works of their hands, so as to cease worshiping and paying homage to the demons and the idols of gold and of silver and of bronze and of stone and of wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk; 21 and they did not repent of their murders nor of their sorceries (drugs, intoxications) nor of their [sexual] immorality nor of their thefts.
Revelation 9:20-21
The spirit of idolatry in the last days
So, let me shock most of you by sharing an old testimony. I have been in the room when demon spirits were conjured, by chanting and using a little altar. Occult spirits were attracted by words, special objects, and mystical symbols. Demon spirits conjugated around items they were familiar with, such as Pagan feasts or ceremonies. I was shocked at how little effort went into conjuring Spirits.
A candle, a prayer, and a chant and suddenly this thing appeared.  She only had a small candle, but the candle was blessed with incantations to invoke spiritual beings.
As the young lady continued to chant, a shadowy figure appeared on the other side of her little altar. I called for her to stop chanting because this hideous thing was in the room. She finally stopped. I shared with her that while she was chanting something appeared in front of her.  I thought this information would scare her, but instead, she seemed to be entertained by the experience and said that sometimes the thing carried her around the room. Okay, I immediately realized that this was a date gone bad. I should have run for the door, but I thought I should tell her about what I knew about the Bible concerning the realm of darkness.  She asked me, “What did the Bible tell you?” Unfortunately, I had to admit that I didn’t have anything to tell her because I had not read the Bible either.  But, I knew deep inside that what she was doing was not right.
A lot has happened since that time and Glory to Christ, our risen Savoir, both myself and that young lady are now saved, washed with the blood of Christ and delivered!
My wife added a note that this all happened before she met me.
Because I have seen things like this in real life, the Lord has walked me through many Bible verses regarding spiritual warfare.
Demon spirits are locked away until Judgment, however, behavior or human intervention can open spiritual doors or unlock spiritual keys that could possibly release them for a season.
(MSG)
43 When a defiling evil spirit is expelled from someone, it drifts along through the desert looking for an oasis, some unsuspecting soul it can bedevil. When it doesn’t find anyone, 44 it says, ‘I’ll go back to my old haunt.’ On return it finds the person spotlessly clean, but vacant. 45 It then runs out and rounds up seven other spirits more evil than itself and they all move in, whooping it up. That person ends up far worse off than if he’d never gotten cleaned up in the first place.
Matthew 12:43-45
This Scripture proves that spirit beings seek out places that are or at one time contributory to their existence.
Below, the relief artistry on the side of perhaps a place of worship depicts a man worshiping the tree-god, however, the real demigod Baal manifests behind the worshipper unaware.
There is a lingering behavior of spirits and the strong connection between people, symbols, and objects.

Those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Galatians 5:19-21  19  Now the practices of the sinful nature are clearly evident: they are sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality (total irresponsibility, lack of self-control),          20  idolatry, sorcery, hostility, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions [that promote heresies],
21  envy, drunkenness, riotous behavior, and other things like these. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Eventually, we will all mature into Saints ready to do battle against the darkness at hand. Until that time let us serve the Lord with all of our hearts and with all of our minds.  In other words, this holiday season some families may hear shocking religious revelations and radical views against Christianity from loving relatives. Even political views can morph into religious dogma. We must be prepared to have a ready word in season and out of season.
Personal testimony
Before coming to faith in Jesus Christ, I was an angry young man with low self-esteem, which is the ideal formula for a person prime for anti-Christian rhetoric. However,  after taking a series of Bible courses, I discovered Christianity was the only faith that had a traceable history back to its origin.  In school, I learned the fascinating details of a war that humans are often unaware.  It is the unseen battles (on our behalf) between the Kingdom of Light and the Kingdom of Darkness.
In the beginning, darkness had covered the Earth, and the inhabitants of the world were forced to worship the enemies of the God.  Adonai cut a covenant with Abraham and Moses to discipline the people in the way of the Lord. This covenant (a shadow of the Messiah) unlocked the chains of Hell when the people repented of their idolatry.
From the Gospel of Matthew to the Book of Revelations the people of God are warned about the enemy’s seduction over men of faith to fraternize with doctrines of devils.
Revelation 9:20-21 20  The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent even then of the works of their hands, so as to cease worshiping and paying homage to the demons and the idols of gold and of silver and of bronze and of stone and of wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk;          21  and they did not repent of their murders nor of their sorceries (drugs, intoxications) nor of their [sexual] immorality nor of their thefts.

Another interesting fact is those ancient occult religions, which predate the Hebrew’s religion, are present enemies of Jews and Christians today. Pagans worshiped fallen spirits.
(As He did in Biblical times, Adonai is still raising up prophets to teach His people about evil spirits that charm and captivate the minds of their worshipers).
Deuteronomy 18:8-22
When you enter the land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable (repulsive) practices of those nations.

If the reader is unaware of the culture in the days when Deuteronomy was written, allow me to explain that it was a civilization of people who worshipped gods of nature (fallen angels).
When the ancient manuscript uses words comparable to “detestable (repulsive),” when describing the pagan altars of those nations, one could only understand why God abhorred their sacred shrines. Those fallen angels knew how to control mankind’s heart and soul. The best way to manipulate men was to fashion a belief system with beautiful images that seemed harmless but represented the pre-Christian religions of the fallen angels (demigods).
Unlike the Israelites who trusted in the God of Moses to provide seasons with rain and sun for their agriculture, other nations relied on their fertility gods. Altars were set up at places of worship indicated by male and female reproductive organs representing the Pagan Gods Baal and Asherah. The accuracy of detail giving to create human body parts would shock the average foreigner passing through with the images in full view.
The symbols ascribed to the Syrian “Baal” and “Asherah”, were made of solid rock, but sometimes green trees and the circular reef were used to depict the human reproduction organs.
This was a culture where all civilization circled around an agricultural society.  The breeding of animals, plants and fungi for food, fiber, biofuel,  medicinal plants and other products were used to sustain and enhance human life.
According to Wikipedia, agriculture was the key development in the rise of sedentary human civilization, whereby farming of domesticated species created food surpluses that nurtured the development of civilization.
Some non-Christian religions were successful in turning many from the faith by using the strategy of accusing Christians of mixing their faith with the practice of pagans; this approach has been successful in winning millions away from the actual teachings of Jesus Christ. When people search the history and discover what pagans did to worship their demigods, they may assume we are wrong about everything we believe.
For instance, if we are celebrating Jesus’ birthday, why are we mixing a Jewish birthday with pagan paraphernalia?
The Easton’s Bible Dictionary Agriculture
Tilling the ground (Gen 2:15; 4:2 3, 12) and rearing cattle were the chief employments in ancient times. The Egyptians excelled in agriculture. And after the Israelites entered into the possession of the Promised Land, their circumstances favored in the highest degree a remarkable development of this art. Agriculture became indeed the basis of the Mosaic commonwealth.

When Light Wins

When Light Wins

When light wins, darkness is dispelled

As the Church world is praying about the best way to provide security for their congregations, the reality that the warfare between the Kingdom of  Light and the Kingdom of Darkness has settled in the house of Adonai (our Heavenly Father). This does not mean that the devil’s kingdom is the winner.  What this means is that every message could become the last words a congregation hears.

The Church needs pearls of wisdom surrounding the entire church property.  In the natural, while we are locking church doors, we may need to unlock the doors in case of a chemical attack or a fire incident. The main point here is that in the spiritual realm there is a declaration of war against Adonai the God of Israel. Therefore, we should also be ready to unlock the hearts of men and women who have shut the doors of those “God-sensitive” areas in their souls.  How do we respond?  We should let our praises exhort the One and only Lord and His Son Yeshua, the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth. And, let our worship be ascribed to Jesus and not to man or any other man-made object.

Let’s pray for Sutherland, Texas

So you might be asking, why are children targeted in a place of worship as well as good, decent people? Even more, why are these gruesome attacks aimed at the Sanctuary or the LORD’s Holy place?  One answer is the Devil wants to break the heart of God and cause as much shock and awe as he can in the human psyche. The take- away is that the cowardly acts of violence toward children and innocent unarmed people in the church at Sutherland Springs, Texas is devastating but more disturbing is that this behavior appears to be the beginning of a norm. That is why we should pray for the peace in the hearts of relatives and all who were touched by this tragedy.

Jewish history describes similar attacks within Israel’s  Holy place by God’s enemy nations.

(AMP SB Notes)
Luke 21:20 complete destruction. This passage compared the desecration of the temple to what occurred in 167 BC, when Antiochus Epiphanes erected an altar to Zeus in the temple.

(AMP SB Notes)
15:3 – 4 I will appoint four kinds of destroyers over them. The judgment of Judah is described. The imagery of dogs, birds, and beasts devouring human flesh vividly illustrates not only death but desecration. The basis for this desecration is the defilement of Jerusalem that took place during the reign of Manasseh, when idolatry reigned in the temple courts and children were sacrificed to Molech (7:31).   Jeremiah 15:3

Children look in awe because babies where sacrificed to Molech.

As the scrimmage between the kingdom of Light and the kingdom of darkness moves into the final quarter, the obvious winner is the all-star team of Light. However, as this scrimmage moves into the final quarter, it has been observed, by some that the leader of the opposing team has been secretly sending his players over to infiltrate the team of Light with a player from the team of darkness.

A similar desecration of the temple site occurred during the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70.  Luke 21:20

This is an analogy of how Lucifer fights with the God of Israel. He places his people within God’s people, to water down the divine instructions to eternal life. Some are forgetting that the Earth is in a final investigation mode and everything that is contaminated by the Kingdom of darkness or that is infected by the darkness is censured. If it is found to have the nature of darkness or spiritually polluted; the world as we know it may be destroyed from within.

Spiritual pollution is the reason that the message of sanctification and separation is taught throughout the Bible. When one is being entertained by the devil, he convincingly whispers to our spirits that he is not so bad.  After all, nobody is perfect. Satan knows that the person who has a truly converted heart will resist the devil and seek after the well-disciplined teachings of Christ. Mature Christians hate what God hates and strive for the things that God counts as righteous.

25 The carved images of their gods you shall burn with fire. You shall not covet the silver or the gold that is on them or take it for yourselves, lest you be ensnared by it, for it is an abomination to the Lord your God. 26 And you shall not bring an abominable thing into your house and become devoted to destruction like it. You shall utterly detest and abhor it, for it is devoted to destruction.
Deuteronomy 7:25-26

Anton LaVey, the founder of the Church of Satan

Message to Christians from the Charisma Christian Magazine Oct 2017.

Howard Stanton Levey (April 11, 1930 – October 29, 1997) better known by his pseudonym Anton Szandor LaVey, was an American-born Jewish self-promotion artist and intellectual crank known primarily for his advocacy of individualism. He authored a book called the “Satanic Bible” and founded an organization which he named the “Church of Satan”.

Anton LaVey, the founder of the Church of Satan, said: “I am glad that Christian parents let their children worship the devil at least one night out of the year. Welcome to Halloween.”

We are quick on our feet to rush and honor the devil in so many ways. We see no harm in Halloween because we think it is fun. We paint our faces, we wear our innocent costumes, we dress up our doorways—even churches dress up their entryways for Halloween with pumpkins. These actions are like giving the devil license, saying, “Here’s my church. You can have it.”

We think that just because we are not performing any demonic rituals or human sacrifices that we are on safe ground, but did you know that as soon as you dress up, whether you color yourself or put on a costume, the enemy applauds you? Because by doing so, you have turned over your legal rights, and you have dedicated yourself and your kids to celebrate the devil’s holiday. You have just made a pact with the enemy, and you are already sacrificing your children spiritually by dressing them up and changing their identity.

Why did the Galatians struggle to leave their occult practices?

(AMP SB Notes)
3:1 O you foolish and thoughtless and superficial Galatians. This phrase does not indicate lack of intelligence, but lack of wisdom. Paul wonders whether something like an evil spell had prevented the Galatians from recalling the gospel of the crucified Christ.
Galatians 3:1

1 O YOU poor and silly and thoughtless and unreflecting and senseless Galatians! Who has fascinated or bewitched or cast a spell over you, unto whom—right before your very eyes—Jesus Christ (the Messiah) was openly and graphically set forth and portrayed as crucified?
2 Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the [Holy] Spirit as the result of obeying the Law and doing its works, or was it by hearing [the message of the Gospel] and believing [it]? [Was it from observing a law of rituals or from a message of faith?]
3 Are you so foolish and so senseless and so silly? Having begun [your new life spiritually] with the [Holy] Spirit, are you now reaching perfection [by dependence] on the flesh?
Galatians 3:1-3

10 You observe [particular] days and months and seasons and years!
11 I am alarmed [about you], lest I have labored among and over you to no purpose and in vain.

Halloween III

Halloween is over according to the Western Calendar, but we can still learn about the holiday just by researching its origin online and in the

Bible. According to the book of Isaiah, the cult where people would go to the graveyard to conjure up spirits was a significant part of the rituals of honoring the dead. Jesus, our Lord and Savior, and the Son of God had to engage these same spiritual forces as did the prophet Moses.
Many unfortunate people have experienced close-up encounters with the darker side of these pagan feasts to idol gods and came under the control of demon spirits similar to the man in whom Jesus delivered in the graveyard. If this poor gentleman was tampering with the occult, like many others, he may have found out that he could no longer control those malevolent spirits and needed help to break free from spiritual bondage. Many people who once tampered with witchcraft, but now have found faith in Christ share incredible testimonies about God’s deliverance from demonic influences. All of the Gospels taught how Jesus exercised absolute authority over unclean spirits. Even the book of Acts and the epistles speak to the Believing Body of Christ about the absolute power that the Name of Yeshua (Jesus Christ of Nazareth) has over unclean spirits, and Believers are supposed to carry on this ministry of compassion.

Jesus didn’t say we should go around looking for spiritual warfare. Nevertheless, there are times when deliverance is necessary, even for some believers.

Whereas many in the Church today want to be better children of the Kingdom, it is inevitable that carnal-minded Christians may engage in the activity that contradicts their spiritual growth.
It’s feasible to assume ancient worshipers of Israel didn’t understand the contagious characteristics of pagan practices where their disobedience to the Lord left them open to unimaginative spirit contamination.

The question may arise, just how bad is the offense of magic, witchcraft, sorcery, divination, or enchantments? Well, the 9th Chapter of the book of Revelations reveals the place of imprisonment where these occult spirits reside. After being released from that realm of darkness, then these demons will show their real nature.

(NLT Study Bible Text,)
1 Then the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen to earth from the sky, and he was given the key to the shaft of the bottomless pit. 2 When he opened it, smoke poured out as

though from a huge furnace, and the sunlight and air turned dark from the smoke.
3 Then locusts came from the smoke and descended on the earth, and they were given the power to sting like scorpions.
Revelation 9:1-3
And many who are alive at this time will still trust in their spirit guides navigate them through this invasion from Hell.
(NLT Study Bible Text,)
20 But the people who did not die in these plagues still refused to repent of their evil deeds and turn to God.

They continued to worship demons and idols made of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood—idols that can neither see nor hear nor walk! 21 And they did not repent of their murders or their witchcraft or their sexual immorality or their thefts.
Revelation 9:20-21

Inquisitive people need to understand that malevolent spirits are in a place of torment and they may offer spiritual enlightenment for a season, but they are locked away until the day of Judgement.
The only relief for them is to escape by human intervention. So, demons are more than a little eager to attach themselves to any person who is fascinated with hermetic incantations. Hermes is the God of the essential elements of the earth, wind, fire, and water.
The Hermetics website offers teachings on Hermetic philosopher lectures and supplies such as pentagrams, tarot cards, hexagrams, sexual sorcery, and sacred geometry.

How did the Messiah deal with this Cult?
The culture of worshiping the dead was a significant part of the Egyptian belief system. The ancient Egyptians believed in the reconstitution of mummies living in the afterlife and using the personal belongings buried along with them. Ba’al worship had a strong foothold in Egypt since the construction of Aaron’s golden calf was made at the request of the people.

Honoring The Dead
The ancients thought that worshiping the Lord of the Dead would settle a deal for a cushiony position with the pagan gods in the afterlife.
Conjuring the dead or presenting one’s self as a medium is dangerous and forbidden in Scripture. Fallen Angels are in torment, exiled to a realm of torture. As disembodied spirits, these demons seeks a human Medium or an individual who is in a rebellious state with God to escape from that spiritual reformatory.
When a spirit encounters a host (an unredeemed human body), it assumes ownership. The only way an evil spirit exits its host is through a person’s sincere repentance and with prayer in the Almighty Name of Yeshua (Jesus Christ of Nazareth).

(Amplified Bible – AMP)
Adonai said to a Rebellious People.
1 “I let Myself be sought by those who did not ask for Me;
I let Myself be found by those who did not seek Me.
I said, ‘Here am I, here am I,’
To the nation [Israel] which did not call on My Name.
2 “I have spread out My hands all the day long to a rebellious and stubborn people,
Who walk in the way that is not good, [following] after their own thoughts and intentions,
3 The people who continually provoke Me to My face,
Sacrificing [to idols] in gardens and making offerings with incense on bricks [instead of at the designated altar];
4 Who sit among the graves [trying to conjure up evil spirits] and spend the night in the secret places [where spirits are thought to dwell]; Isaiah 64:12 – 65:4

In other words, the people believed that their worship of the occult would yield favors for them in the afterlife.

In the Scriptures below, we can see how Adonai felt about pagans who cut a deal with the Devil because they believed in eternal life without death.
(NLT)
15 You boast, “We have struck a bargain to cheat death
and have made a deal to dodge the grave.
The coming destruction can never touch us,
for we have built a strong refuge made of lies and deception.”
16 Therefore, this is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“Look! I am placing a foundation stone in Jerusalem,
a firm and tested stone.
It is a precious cornerstone that is safe to build on.
Whoever believes need never be shaken.
17 I will test you with the measuring line of justice
and the plumb line of righteousness.
Since your refuge is made of lies,
a hailstorm will knock it down.
Since it is made of deception,
a flood will sweep it away.
18 I will cancel the bargain you made to cheat death,
and I will overturn your deal to dodge the grave.
When the terrible enemy sweeps through,
you will be trampled into the ground.
19 Again and again that flood will come,
Isaiah 28:15-19

New Testament (Amplified Bible – AMP)
The Gerasene Demoniac
1 They came to the other side of the sea, to the region of the Gerasenes. 2 When Jesus got out of the boat, immediately a man from the tombs with an unclean spirit met Him, 3 and the man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him anymore, not even with chains. 4 For he had often been bound with shackles [for the feet] and with chains, and he tore apart the chains and broke the shackles into pieces, and no one was strong enough to subdue and tame him. 5 Night and day he was constantly screaming and shrieking among the tombs and on the mountains, and cutting himself with [sharp] stones. 6 Seeing Jesus from a distance, he ran up and bowed down before Him [in homage]; 7 and screaming with a loud voice, he said, “What business do we have in common with each other, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore you by God [swear to me], do not torment me!” 8 For Jesus had been saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” 9 He was asking him, “What is your name?” And he replied, “My name is Legion; for we are many.” 10 And he began begging Him repeatedly not to send them out of the region.

I find it quite impressive that the spirit demonstrated knowledge of its geographic physical surroundings. Also, this agonizing evil entity was aware of the complex compartments of misery.
And he began begging Him repeatedly not to send them out of the region. This grouping of spirits had an interest in the area where they inhabited. Perhaps, the human behavior in that province was conducive to the makeup of this spirit grouping.
The most important takeaway here is demonic spirits need particular human behavior that is contrary to God’s Word, at which time they may take over a person’s will, just like someone finding a lost dog without a collar.

The Bible says more about paganism than the subject of witchcraft, probably because there are several ways an individual might cross the path of an occultic incident accidentally, such as with the feast of Samhain. For example, when many churches changed the name of the “autumn solstice festival,” by supplanting its original name or Christianizing it to make it acceptable, the pagan kingdom expanded and scattered to new territories because of a lack of knowledge.

Samhain is a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter or the “darker half” of the year. Traditionally, it is celebrated from 31 October to 1 November, as the Celtic day began and ended at sunset. This is about halfway between the autumn equinox and the winter solstice. It is one of the four Gaelic seasonal festivals, along with Imbolc, Bealtaine, and Lughnasadh. Historically, it was widely observed throughout Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man. Similar festivals are held at the same time of year in other Celtic lands; for example the Brythonic Calan Gaeaf, Kalan Gwav, and Kalan Goañv.

Just like a person’s unknowingly use of witchcraft, some people might come across a pagan artifact and out of ignorance bring it into their homes, such as a Quija Board.
I have personally been asked to pray in homes where spiritual contamination existed because occult materials were in their houses.

25 You shall burn the carved and sculpted images of their gods in the fire. You shall not covet the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it for yourselves, so that you will not be ensnared by it [in a deadly trap], for it is an abomination (repulsive) to the Lord your God. 26 You shall not bring an abomination (idol) into your house, and like it come under the ban (doomed to destruction); you shall utterly detest and you shall utterly hate it, for it is something banned.
Deuteronomy 7:25-26

(Easton’s Bible Dictionary)
The “witch of En-dor” (1 Sam. 28) was a necromancer, i.e., one who feigned to hold converse with the dead. The damsel with “a spirit of divination” (Acts 16:16) was possessed by an evil spirit, or, as the words are literally rendered, “having a spirit, a Pithon.” The reference is to the heathen god Apollo, who was regarded as the god of prophecy.
The spirit of Python is the source of witchcraft and divination. Divination, the art of obtaining secret knowledge, especially of the future, is a pagan counterpart of prophecy. Python spirit is a diviner, false prophet, a giver of false prophecy.

43 — When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

Corinth was an essential cosmopolitan city located in the Roman province of Achaia (the southern part of modern-day Greece) on a large isthmus about fifty miles west of Athens. It was situated along a major trade route and had a thriving economy. For this reason, large numbers of sailors and merchants from every nation flocked to the city of Corinth. During the first century, it was one of the largest cities in the Roman Empire and by the end of the second century it had become one of richest cities in the world.
Corinth was a strategic center of influence for the gospel since those travelers who heard the gospel there could carry it to all parts of the world. The city of Corinth, however, was one of the wickedest cities in ancient times. Immorality, unscrupulous business dealings, and pagan practices abounded. Of the scores of heathen religions that were practiced in the city, the most well-known were the worship of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty. The temple of Aphrodite stood on the most prominent point in the city, a hill called Acrocorinth, and housed one thousand “temple prostitutes.”
Paul was able to establish a church in Corinth during his eighteen-month residence there (about a.d. 52-53)
